The Italian Chocolate Cookie is a part of my thread, my being, my childhood. Every Italian girl has an Chocolate cookie recipe. This recipe is from my Godmother, Aunt Pauline Licari. (In the corner of her recipe card, she made a note..."have FUN". I love that!) Merry Christmas! 8 c sifted flour 2 Tbsp baking powder 2 tsp baking soda 1 1/2 c cocoa (unsweetened) 1 tsp cloves 1 tsp cinnamon 3 c sugar 5 eggs 1 1/2 shortening 2 Tbsp vanilla 2 c milk 8 oz chopped pecans Sift flour with baking soda and baking powder; add the sugar to the flour. Add cocoa, cloves and cinnamon. Blend ingredients well. Cream shortening with eggs; add vanilla and mix well. Combine the flour mixture with the shortening and egg mixture, alternating with the milk. Add nuts to mix. Shape into small balls about 1 inch and laced on greased cookie sheets, and flattened lightly with fingers. Place an inch apart. Bake at 350" for 15-20 minutes until done. Frost with simple icing. Simple FROSTing/icing In my mixer I poured in a 1/2 bag of powdered sugar 1 tsp of Anise 1 tsp of lemon juice and slowly added milk to get it to frosting consistency
