Hunger Games

Last night was the premiere of the film, "The Hunger Games"...at midnight!!! Everyone around here has read the book and fell under the spell of severe anticipation for the film. The outcome? Well, everyone LOVED it...not one person within our group was disappointed. Personally, I was initially freaked-out by the child on child "fight to the death" premise, but in the end, appreciate how the Hunger Games is a story of a courageous and honorable young woman. A MUST SEE! In the film/book, a Mockingjay Pin is given to the main character as a symbol of protection. I thought it appropriate to outfit the girls in Mockingjay T-Shirts...for protection. I chalked in the design on a black t-shirt. Then I painted the shapes with antique gold fabric paint and added glitter. I let them dry completely for two days. Next, I purchased iron-on flocked letters from Michaels Craft Store. I showed the girls how to cut, position and iron-on their names to the backside of the shirt.
